Human Biology                                                                                                              OCR

Introduction

Human biology is an excellent choice for those students who wish to continue to study biology beyond GCSE, with particular emphasis on humans. The AS and A2 courses give students the chance to study human biology in greater depth than the standard biology course. There is still the opportunity to learn about environmental biology, biochemistry and cell biology. Human Biology complements study of Physical Education and Chemistry.

During the course students will have opportunities to:

  • develop greater understanding of biological facts together with an appreciation of their significance to humans.
  • develop greater expertise in practical work and the link between theory and experimental work.
  • continue to enjoy a personal interest in the study of the human body.
  • recognise the responsible use of biology in society.
  • develop a deeper awareness of biology in the changing world and its importance in the new millennium.
