Parents and Friends Association

Aims of the PFA

The aim of the PFA is to advance the education of the pupils in the School through:

  • The development of more extended relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the School.
  • Engaging in activities, which support the School and advance the education of the pupils attending
  • Providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for education at the School not normally provided by the Local Education Authority.
To enable these activities, events such as Quiz nights, Fashion Shows and Wine tasting evenings are organised to raise funds. Recent fundraising activities have provided funding for Sports Hall improvements, £10,000 towards the school’s successful bid for Specialist Status in Science and the provision of interactive equipment for the language labs. The PFA is also able to make modest grants to assist present or recently left pupils of the School who wish to undertake an education enhancing experience in order to continue or develop her / his education or to train for a career. For example, grants have been made to pupils needing to raise funds as part of a Voluntary Services Overseas or Prince's Trust challenge. Details of the qualification criteria are available on request from the Committee. The Maidstone Girls Grammar School Parents and Friends Association is a voluntary organisation, membership of which is open to:
  • Parents or guardians of pupils attending the School
  • Parents or guardians of ex-pupils of the School
  • Ex-pupils of the School
  • Ex-members of staff of the School

All members of the staff of the School are automatically   ex-officio members of the Association.

Becoming a Member: Anyone interested in joining the Association, helping at any of the Forthcoming Events or even just providing assistance with refreshments on school consultation evenings should contact one of the committee members listed here. Alternatively, just turn up at one of the Committee meetings, which are normally held termly. Helping out is a good way to get to know other parents and who knows, you may even enjoy it!! The date of the next meeting will be posted here under the Forthcoming Events section.PFA "100 club" Draw. The PFA also runs a "100 club" draw, which is open to any parents or guardians of present or past students. The 2006/07 scheme was launched in September with an annual entry fee of £10.  First prize of 30% of the monthly pool Second prize of 20% The remaining funds are used to improve School facilities.
