Students with Special Educational Needs
Some students may experience some form of Special Educational Needs during their time at Maidstone Grammar School for Girls, and we ensure that they are well supported so that they can access and fully engage with all aspects of our curriculum. Support is individualised per student in accordance with the SEND Code of Practice and is coordinated by our SENCO with the support of the SENCO Assistant, Learning Mentors and Heads of Study, and ranges from the provision of differentiated learning strategies in the classroom, and individual support outside of lessons through learning mentor support, peer mentoring or counselling. We have close links with external agencies and will access this support where necessary. Every student identified as receiving SEN support will have their progress reviewed in collaboration with parents/carers at least three times. Students with medical needs may also have an Individual Health Care Plan.
