Online draw – Easter 2017
Ready, Steady, Bake… “You have to be in it to win it!”
Saturday 18th March 2017, 2pm to 4pm: The School Hall at MGGS
Join us for an afternoon of tea and cakes at “The Great School Bake Off and Vintage Cafe”.
The PFA are organising the third annual “The Great School Bake Off and Vintage Cafe”. Last year not only did we see a fabulous array of delicious bakes but we were also treated to afternoon tea with entertainment provided by Tom Carradine and his Cockney Sing-A-Long. We hope that MGGS students, family, staff, friends as well as the wider community including youngsters from local primary schools will join us for another fun afternoon!
Could you give Mary Berry a run for her money? Or do you back bread to rival Paul Hollywood’s? Whatever your style, we challenge you to pop on that pinny and get baking!
Your entry is then donated, so once judged we can sell your bake as part of our Vintage Cafe complete with entertainment and tours of the wartime tunnels. To reserve your place please book via the link below or just pop along on the day for a cuppa, a slice of cake and some great entertainment!
The entries will be judged by our panel of “School” and “Professional” judges and each class will receive a winner and runner-up certificate signed by our judges. Each class winner will then be judged by our panel of judges to be crowned “MGGS Bake Champion 2017” and a trophy will be awarded to them.
There are 7 baking classes this year, as follows:
|Class 1||6 small individual cakes or one large cake (can be decorated)|
|Class 2||Bread – 1 loaf (or 6 individual rolls)|
|Class 3||A Tray Bake – sweet or savoury|
|Class 4||12 Sweet or savoury biscuits|
|Class 5||Show stopper – The Good, The Bad & The Ugly (enter your fabulous creation or the one destined for higher places that didn’t turn out as planned!)|
|Class 6||Primary School Entry – We would love younger bakers to join in the fun! Choose your favourite bake to make! The choice is yours!|
|Class 7||A new category for 2017. Form Entry – Apricot Flapjack or Brownie (recipe provided, available in school). We are looking for at least one entry per Form in years 7, 8, 9 and 10 although Forms in other years are very welcome to enter. Can your Form beat the others with the most entries and become the Star Bakers of 2017 and walk away with the Form Prize?|
All entries need to be registered via http://buytickets.at/maidstonegrammarschoolforgirlspfa by 9am Monday 13th March 2017 to be eligible for judging.
Entry fee is just £2 per entry per class payable online.
Unfortunately turning up on the day with a bake to be judged without having made your on-line donation cannot be accomodated…however, please do just turn up for tea and cake at the Vintage Cafe!
So let’s get baking! We all look forward to eating your entries… once they have been judged!
Looking forward to seeing you all on 18th March,
