How MGGS Keeps You Safe
We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of everybody who belongs to, or visits our community
Safeguarding underpins all aspects of our school policies, practice and procedures. Our culture of safeguarding embodies the Maidstone Grammar School for Girls ethos of ‘Non sibi sed omnibus’ – ‘Not for oneself but for all’.
At MGGS all stakeholders embrace the commitment to safeguard our school community. Governors, staff (including volunteers) and visitors all have a duty to work in line with our safeguarding and child protection policy. Please read the MGGS Safeguarding and Child Protection policy.
We have produced a document for students which explains how we safeguard our young people, as well as identifying the staff students can contact if they are concerned about their own well-being or that of somebody else.

Operation Encompass
MGGS is an Operation Encompass school and subscribes to the principles as set out in the Operation Encompass strategy:
Operation Encompass was created so that by 9.00am on the next school day, a nominated Key Adult will be informed by Kent Police that a child or young person has been involved in a domestic incident the previous night. This knowledge, given to schools, allows the provision of immediate early intervention through ‘silent’ or ‘overt’ support, depending upon the needs and wishes of the child.
Operation Encompass will ensure that a designated member of the school staff, known as a Key Adult, will liaise with the police and use the information that has been shared, in confidence, whilst ensuring that the school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, or their families, who have experienced a domestic incident. We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our students and we believe that this initiative will be extremely beneficial for all those involved.
