Our 135th Birthday is approaching very soon, on 18th January 2023 MGGS will be 135 years old and as a school we will take time to celebrate on this date and throughout the year!
For our alumni and friends we are planning an open event on the afternoon of 1st July with the opportunity to meet current and previous staff as well as friends from school. The school site will be open, including our Second World Tunnels. Further details will follow in the New Year.
As for the school’s 130th anniversary students were asked to design a logo to celebrate this anniversary. We were delighted to receive a number of entries.
Entries were submitted to Mrs Jenkins, Head of Art at MGGS and Sreelakshmi from Year 10 won the honour with a fantastic design. Sreelakshmi commented, “On the website I saw a picture of the school building with an old and new picture that you could slide the timeline bar from 1970 to today. The difference between the two pictures caught my attention and I then used this to create my design.” Sreelakshmi is currently studying GCSE Art at MGGS.
If you would like to see the video which motivated the design you can view it under our MGGS History page https://www.mggs.org/our-story/history-of-our-school/ The banners are located at the front of the school on the turrets and also on the Molly Tipples Sport Hall.
Congratulations Sreelakshmi for a well thought out and beautiful design!
