A Schoolgirl’s War Talk
On Tuesday evening, MGGS welcomed Mary Smith, former Head Teacher and the author of “A Schoolgirl’s War” for a special event exploring life at the school during World War 2. Mary shared her extensive research as well as beautiful drawings and paintings by Helen Keen, an art teacher at MGGS during the war that vividly captured the experiences of students and staff during this turbulent period. The audience was captivated by her insights and the powerful stories she shared.
In addition to the historical presentation, attendees also learned about the school’s exciting plans to open a World War 2 visitor center. This new facility will not only serve as a valuable educational resource for the community but also provide current students with unique learning opportunities.
