During half term, one of our A level Drama and Theatre students spent a fantastic week at the National Youth Theatre. Amelia has a real passion for theatre and hopes to pursue acting as a career. The National Youth Theatre of Great Britain is a world-leading youth arts organisation. They inspire, nurture and showcase the talents of young people. This is what Amelia said about her week:
“Over the October half term I stayed in London for a Screen Acting masterclass at The National Youth Theatre. Across the six days I learned a variety of audition techniques, analysed and performed a range of script genres and even had a mock audition with Simon Lennon (from the TV series ‘Our Girl’), where I took on the role of Juno from the 2007 film.
I didn’t know what to expect but it is fair to say that I learned more than I could have imagined; on one of the days we created our own film set and took on the roles of everyone on set. I went from being a runner, to a director and I can honestly say they were both as stressful, but as enjoyable, as each other.
Coming away from this experience, I would definitely recommend this masterclass to anyone who loves acting, or to anyone who is looking to develop their knowledge and skills. I was lucky to be working with a lovely and funny group of people and now have a source of connections for the future.”

What a fantastic experience. We look forward to following Amelia’s career!
