Aspiration Digital Careers Conference
Aspiration Digital, the digital careers conference for sixth formers, returned to Maidstone Grammar School for Girls on Friday 24th March. The conference, run by Reflect Digital is aimed at students and teachers who want to know more about careers in the digital world. Alongside our own students, we welcomed 200 students from Cornwallis, Dover Grammar School for Girls, Highsted Grammar, Highworth Grammar, Invicta Grammar, King’s School Rochester, Oakwood Park Grammar, Rochester Grammar, St George’s CofE and Valley Park schools to the event.
The event focused on development and creativity; marketing and content; and business and client management.explored university and apprenticeship routes to working in the industry.
Guest speakers came from a large number of Kent and London-based digital businesses and we heard from Canterbury Christ Church University and Estio Apprenticeships about routes into the industry. The Digital Kent team ran workshops throughout the day discussing what digital inclusion means and the digital aspects of working at Kent County Council. The students networked with all the organisations too, giving them valuable experience in talking to employers and a chance to ask more about job opportunities.
This year, we were delighted to offer more work experience opportunities in the prize draw from Capital Content, Digital Kent and Reflect Digital. Congratulations to Basajor D (Cornwallis Academy), Priya C (Kings School Rochester) and George S (Valley Park) and we wish them good luck at their placements this summer.
We would like to thank the event organisers, Reflect Digital, for their hard work in arranging this event again and to thank all the businesses involved in making Aspiration Digital so engaging and inspiring. The event will be running again next year in January. In the meantime, students can watch selected sessions from this and previous events at https://aspiration.digital/.
