Computing Hub Update

2024 has been a fruitful year for the Maidstone & Kent Computing Hub at MGGS. Being the regional hub of the South East, we support teachers and schools from Kent to Hampshire, reaching over 2,300 schools!

The hub’s role is to boost confidence and subject knowledge for teachers from early years and primary through to A Level, and enable schools to enrich and encourage students to study Computing through all key stages.

In 2024 we have:

  • Co-hosted and exhibited at the Aspiration Digital Conference
  • Delivered a creative Microbit workshop to KS3 students at SATRO STEM Fest and a bespoke workshop at Sussex Primary Science Conference
  • Hosted Scrapbot Creator Challenge in East Sussex for girls in years 5-8
  • Organised Kent & Medway Grammar School Association Computing Professional Development Group Meetings
  • Engaged multiple Trusts and Teaching School Hubs
  • Attended and exhibited multiple conferences
  • Loaned physical computing kits to 25 schools
  • Delivered 99 CPD courses
  • Supported 186 schools in Kent and East Sussex
  • Trained 989 teachers and trainee teachers

We’re looking forward to the ‘I Belong’ enrichment activities, which empower girls into Computing in February 2025 and the Aspirational Digital Conference at Showcase Cinema Bluewater in March 2025!
