Having been shortlisted for the Maidstone Museum’s Design Heritage Challenge, on the evening of the 11th May four Year 8 students from MGGS pitched their idea to a panel of judges. The competition required students to design and make a product that could be sold in the museum’s gift shop, reflecting the museum’s artefacts, history and heritage. The students’ pitch was presented in a highly professional manner with a strong sense of eloquence and confidence commended by the judges. With 13 other schools competing, the competition was fierce as all entrants wanted their work to be picked for manufacture.
We are delighted to announce that not only were students from MGGS runners up, but they have also been asked to manufacture their product to go on sale in the Maidstone Museum shop! This is something we were expecting only the overall winners to do, however, the judges remarked how close the quality of entries were upon judging that they definitely wanted our MGGS entry to be on sale too – what a fantastic achievement! We are now liaising closely with #MaidstoneMuseum in order to manufacture a selection of products to go on sale later this year.
