Design Technology at MGGS – Soldering Success!

Students in 7F and 7G have been putting their knowledge of electronics to the test and have started soldering the circuits for the nightlight product they have designed. Applying their understanding of electronic components including resistors; transistors; capacitors; and light emitting diodes, students have been able to explain what role each component plays in allowing the electricity to travel around the circuit in order to produce a fully functioning product. Overcoming their initial hesitation at working with hot solder that melts at approximately 220oC, students started to master the technique of soldering and were able to secure their components to the printed circuit board. We can’t wait to see the final results in a couple of weeks’ time!
