Diversity Ambassadors & School Council Trip to UK Parliament and The Supreme Court

On Wednesday 22nd January, 36 Diversity Ambassadors, School Council members and Year 12 Politics students braved the cold to discover where democracy is made: The House of Parliament and The Supreme Court! After a visit of the House of Lords, followed by an appearance of Mr Speaker in the corridor of the parliament, the students did a workshop on democracy. At that point, we had a surprise visit from the MP for Maidstone and The Weald, Helen Grant, who explained how it is to be an MP. The students quizzed her on her career and they really enjoyed meeting her and felt very motivated by her. Afterwards, we had the privilege to visit The Supreme Court of Justice with a guide who explained to us the inner workings of the court. On the way back, everyone was buzzing with excitement after such an insightful day!
