Exploring Computing History: MGGS GCSE Students Dive into Bletchley Park Adventure

This week many of our GCSE Computer Science students went on an exciting trip to The National Museum of Computing in Bletchley Park. Bletchley Park is famous for its significance as the home of the ‘codebreakers’ during WWII. The museum houses hundreds of computers, including the world’s oldest functional computer the Harwell Dekatron (also known as the WITCH).

Students took part in many activities including a cryptography challenge to encode and decode secret messages, programming in BASIC on the BBC Micro computers, and an expert-led guided tour of the museum. It was a great day and we look forward to returning again in the future.
