Fifteen to Finish: Help Us Close the Gap and Complete Our New Building

Thank you for sticking with us through the ups and downs of the Building for our Future campaign. It’s been a long road, but as you can see, the building is finally well underway – it’s happening!

I am pleased to inform you that we have recently been granted £25,000 from the Garfield Weston Foundation, but we need your help urgently to close the remaining funding gap to complete the project.

Why do we need a new building?

Our Science and History departments are stretched thin, they are housed in T Block that was only ever meant to be temporary when it was built in the 1950s, and now part of it is unsafe to use. Our Music facilities are cramped and tired and plan to offer A Level Music from September. Plus, we are growing by 30 students each year due to the additional form of entry.

So, we’re building a new Science, Music, and History block that will include a WW2 Visitor Centre that will allow the wider community to step back in time and learn more about school life in wartime.

This project is more than just bricks, it’s a great opportunity to preserve our past and invest in our future.

How you can help?

Save the date! We will soon be launching ‘Building for our Future – Fifteen to Finish’  a focused fortnight (well, 15 days to be precise) of fundraising starting on 20th June, with the return of our Charity Football Match at the Gallagher Stadium. This will be a final push to get us to our fundraising target. More information will follow shortly, but in the meantime, you can help us by:

  • Volunteering to be part of a committee to help spread key messages, give feedback and come up with fundraising ideas.
  • Identify businesses or contacts that could sponsor parts of the project, the Charity Football Match or help with match funding.
  • Make a donation, buy a brick or a coat peg! If you would like your name in the new building, there are opportunities to do so on our campaign website https://mggs.ptly.uk/donatenow. Please note that there is an option to link your donation to an MGGS student, please use their name and form when making your gift.

To get involved, please contact Mrs Lila Brewer at central@mggs.org or 01622 752103.
