Health & Social Care @MGGS
Health and Social Care students were lucky to have a visit from Louise Nixon, an Occupational Therapist who works for Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust. Ms Nixon has previously worked with inpatients suffering with mental health conditions, and now has a lead role in a service set up in the wake of Covid to focus on staff wellbeing. She told us about her own career progression; the range of activities covered by Occupational Therapists; and she spoke candidly about the advantages and drawbacks of working in the NHS. What really came through was her enormous enthusiasm for, and commitment to, her job – which was hugely encouraging for those students thinking of a similar career!
We are very grateful to the professionals who volunteer to come and share their expertise, and we would love to hear from any other friends of the school with experience in the health or social care sectors who might be willing to come and speak to us.
