Heritage Design Challenge

Heritage Design ChallengeA number of students in Year 8 have taken part in the Heritage Design Challenge in conjunction with Maidstone Museum. Students were required to design and make a prototype of a product that could be sold in the museum’s gift shop.

We were informed this week that students from MGGS have been shortlisted to take part in a pitching event in May to present their ideas to a panel of judges. The overall winning entry will have their product made via batch production and it will be available to buy in the museum’s shop later this year.

The shortlisting panel remarked that the standard of entries was exceedingly high and it was a very hard job making the final selections.  They also commented how the ideas proposed by the students clearly linked to the artefacts and galleries within the museum. The shortlisted team now have to prepare for their pitch whilst considering final costings, product packaging/labelling and batch production methods. All the design work, photographs and final prototypes will be on exhibition at the museum from the middle of May until the end of June.

Congratulations to Jemima, Leah, Hayley and Jessica; we wish you the best of luck for your pitch in May!
