Live Theatre Returns to MGGS!

The_Paper_Birds_at_mggsOn Wednesday, January 19th we were very excited to welcome back The Paper Birds theatre company. The day started off with a workshop with some of our year 10 GCSE Drama students. Georgie from the company led a 2-hour devising workshop where students experimented with imaginative ways to use verbatim in performance and then simple ways to create complex physical theatre movement sequences to music. Year 10 produced some very creative work and had great fun in the process!

Live Theatre Returns to MGGS!In the afternoon a number of students from Year 9-13 watched Georgie, Lydia and Monty perform their latest touring show Broke.  Broke utilises The Paper Birds signature techniques of verbatim and physical theatre to help explore real life stories from the front line of poverty and debt. “It is a heartfelt and urgent look at the debt of a Nation from displaced families and gambling addictions to beans on toast”. There was then a Q&A session with the company about the show and ways into the theatre industry.

A great day of theatre was had by all!
