Maidstone SFA U14s National Cup Finalists Featuring MGGS Talent

Maidstone SFA District Girls U14s have been smashing it recently with the help of several MGGS students: Cara J, Imogen J, Amber R and Elsie R from Year 8 and Sophia H and Veronika L in Year 9.

The team competed in the English Schools Football Association semi-final for the National Cup last weekend and won. They have made the finals of the National Cup!

Here are some key stats:

  • The team is a mix of Under-14s and Under-13s, meaning half the girls are playing a year up.
  • The team have never trained together, which makes their performance even more impressive.
  • In the Kent School FA League, they are currently at the top.

Parent Mr R commented, “All games will be completed by 15th March, after which they move into a knockout-based comp. First place faces fourth, second plays third, and I’m confident we can win that.

The main event is the ESFA (English Schools FA) National Championship, where we’ve reached the final of the Plate competition, set to take place in June. This match is usually held at a major stadium – I think it will be played at Stoke City’s bet365 Stadium (capacity ~ 30,000) but TBC!

We’ve had an incredible journey in the national comp, competing against teams from Brighton, Slough, Swansea, Bromley, and West Kent – and the girls have absolutely smashed it.”

Huge congratulations and good luck in the finals!
