Maya & Nethuli’s Success at the Kent & Medway Grammar Schools Association’s Symposium’ Public Speaking Competition
On Friday, 9th May, Maya and Nethuli represented MGGS at the Regional Finals of the Kent and Medway Grammar Schools Association’s ‘Symposium’ public speaking competition. Among 14 students from 7 schools, they spoke on a diverse range of topics. Maya was the first to take the lectern, delivering a thoughtful and provocative speech on the prospects and cost of peace in today’s political climate, offering a critique of Lennon’s ‘Imagine’. Nethuli followed with a passionate and empowering speech addressing issues of identity and prejudice. Both were well-received by the judges in what was an especially close competition. Many congratulations to Nethuli, who was one of only five contestants to progress to the final in July.
