MGGS Open Evening Success… “My daughter fell in love with the school”
We were especially delighted to welcome hundreds of Year 5 and 6 students to our Open Evening on Tuesday this week. The atmosphere at MGGS was just buzzing with excited young students and their accompanying family.
Our visitors were guided around MGGS by students from years 7 to 11 and we have received some fantastic feedback from parents/carers, so thank you Years 7 to 11!
“Me and my daughter attended the open evening last night, and I would just like to mention our tour guide, she was fab, very knowledgeable and was able to ask any questions we had. My daughter is very shy and Grace was great with her and managed to give her a bit of confidence. So I just wanted to say thank you. I’m not sure of her full name but all I know is her name is Grace and I think she is in class 10C. A credit to your school.
Thanks again.”
“I just wanted to follow up our tour yesterday and compliment your students and your staff. My wife is a middle leader at a grammar school, and I oversee a grammar school in my role as CEO so we know what to look for in a school. We had 3 tour guides who introduced themselves very quickly so we didn’t catch their names, but their guiding was excellent and they were a credit to your school. They were polite and knowledgeable even after just 6 weeks in year 7. They answered our questions well and offered a really positive insight into the school and the transition process. All of the staff and students we interacted with showed your school off in a really positive light, so I wanted to take the time to thank you and to please pass on our compliments to them.”
“Firstly thank you for a fabulous evening, we attended the open day on Tuesday 11th October at 17:15 and were really impressed. Our daughter wanted to attend an open day as soon as possible; as we were advised it gets super busy.
As soon as we arrived we were greeted by such an approachable fun team, the chap that showed us to the tennis courts, in order to park, was super fun and helpful, however, that was just an added bonus. In truth, every classroom we visited the teachers were interested in our daughter which made her feel important, and its daunting visiting a huge school in comparison to a comfortable primary school. As we expected the work on display was beautiful and the children seemed really proud of their efforts.
The real reason I am writing is because each student I spoke to appeared happy and excited to be at school, which often is lacking at secondary schools. The two young girls guiding us, who are year 8 students were incredible; confident in answering any questions we had, putting our daughter at ease. I was extremely impressed at how they carried themselves, and needed to let you know how wonderful these two young girls were and an absolute asset to yourselves.”
“Thank you for a very welcoming open evening!
All students we met with were polite and passionate about their school, a very good representation of what the school stands for.
Every teacher, particularly the art teachers, was inspiring and warm. We will certainly be looking to your school if successful in the 11 plus.”
“I just wanted to send a quick note to say what a wonderful open evening we experienced tonight. The two year 7’s students that guided us were absolutely brilliant, funny and informative.
The female English teacher in the Buckland building spoke to our daughter so beautifully about the support they offer and that the school would never hold a child back when they have an interest or passion in an area.
The Senco reassured us and settled any concerns we had, as my daughter has a medical condition.
The male Physics teacher – Mr Reid spoke about how long he had been at the school and that you would find it hard to find a better place to work.
Thank you for all the time and effort put into the evening, my daughter fell in love with the school and can’t wait for the transition day next week!”
