World Mental Health Day – 10th October

At MGGS we support the physical and mental wellbeing of our students by encouraging healthy habits as well as providing excellent pastoral care and ad-hoc support.

We are currently designing a Wellbeing Ambassadors scheme so that some of our Sixth Formers can access training to provide support to our younger students.

We have been working closely with Mid-Kent MIND and they have provided our school a lot of support over the years.

In Term 2 MIND will be delivering 2 courses, over a 6-week period, to some of our Year 8 and Year 9 students Bounce Back is designed to teach young people how they can combat stress, deal with emotions, and reduce anxiety so they can ‘bounce back’ from the challenges they face in life.

Taming My Temper teaches young people how to recognise their emotions and when feeling angry how to process this in such a way that does not display aggression. Using Cognitive Behavioural Coaching, group discussions, self-discovery exercises, relaxation techniques and task setting

If your daughter is in Year 8 or Year 9 and you feel she would benefit from this then please email bfrancak@mggs.org to book her a place.

MIND is also offering a 3-week Parental Resilience course scheduled for Thursday 14th, 21st and 28th November 1pm–3pm. aims:  to share techniques from their team when working with young people. Parents will learn how to use these skills for themselves so they can be more confident in supporting their own child’s mental health. The course will also include ways they can practise self-care and look after their own wellbeing.  Deadline of Wednesday 17th October to contact us?  See below for details: https://midkentmind.org.uk/adult-services/support-for-parents/parental-resilience/
