Year 11 Computer Science Drone Assault Workshop

Year 11 mggs students attend Computer Science Drone Assault WorkshopLast Friday, 33 GCSE Computer Science students took part in an exciting ‘Drone Assault Workshop’ in the MGGS Sports Hall. Students spent the first part of the day learning to program BBC micro:bit devices with various sensors and servos to complete some challenges.

Once confident with their programming ability, they then used their art and craft skills to design and create obstacles to form a themed assault course. This would be controlled by the micro:bits to move swinging blades, lower and raise guillotines, and change the colors of LED lighting strips.

t the end of the day, the teams competed by pilotng their drones through their assault courses, earning points for each obstacle successfully passed. It was an enjoyable day and showcased our students’ versatility and resilience.

We hope you enjoy the photos of our students’ work throughout the day!
