Year 5 & Parents/Carers – Advanced Thinking Skills Workshop
This week three groups of Year 5 students attended an Advanced Thinking Skills workshop to demonstrate how thinking tools can support learning and organise ideas. Students compared two different versions of the Little Red Riding Hood story using a compare and contrast thinking frame.
Alongside the workshop parents attended a talk about the benefits of thinking skills and our school’s approach to delivering these strategies. Mrs Robbins led the talk which included an overview of metacognitive strategies, thinking frames and the Simple Memory Model. These are some of the tools that we value as a school and will continue to develop with our students.
The event was very successful and well attended and it was lovely to meet both the children and their parents.
