Year 5 Taster Lesson – Rise to the Occasion!
Earlier this week we had the pleasure of 40 Year 5 students join us for a taster session in Food & Nutrition. Students learnt about the science of bread making by looking at how gluten makes a bread dough smooth and stretchy and how yeast and sugar work together to feed the dough and make it rise. Students then worked independently to make their own bread rolls, glazed with milk and sprinkled with poppy seeds for extra flavour. Well done to all who came along, you were excellent star bakers!
We have also received some fantastic feedback:
“My daughter has loved all the taster sessions so far. Very engaging, staff very friendly and made the sessions fun.”
“Sophie was thrilled to get a place and really enjoyed making the bread and getting to bring it home to share with her family.”
