Year 8 Bewl Water Trip

Complied by Year 8 students:

“We had an amazing day at Bewl Water last week, the scenery was idyllic, there was a dam, lots of trees and the sun was shining throughout the day!  While we were there, we did a variety of different activities such as canoeing, the challenge course, orienteering, bushcraft and puzzle solving.

We used a map in orienteering to explore the site whilst trying to find the numbers on the map. The highest score in our group was 41 points which was impressive as the site was massive!  We then completed the challenge course, which was very difficult to do and required us to really work as a team. There were extremely thin tight ropes, which you would have to be an acrobat to get across (!) and on another rope you had to swing across from one plank to another, which was extremely fun.  Other activities included bridge making, an assault course and wall climbing.

After lunch we went on the lake in canoes and it was particularly fun when the canoe tipped over and we fell into the water!  We worked in teams of up to  4 and played lots of different games on the water.  Once we were done we did the Mexican wave where we all splashed in the water which was really cool.  The weather was warm and sunny and it was the perfect way to celebrate the end of our Year 8 exams :)”
