Year 8 Students Explore Sustainability at the Natural History Museum

Last week, our Year 8 students had the fantastic opportunity to visit the Natural History Museum as part of their geography studies into sustainability—a key topic currently being explored in lessons.

As part of the trip, students took part in the LEGO Build the Future Challenge, an exciting, hands-on workshop designed to get young people thinking creatively about the future of our planet. Working in teams, they were presented with the challenge of designing a sustainable future—one that balances the need to preserve the natural world with the continued growth of communities and development of resources, all through the medium of LEGO.

The challenge not only encouraged students to engage deeply with ideas around environmental responsibility and innovation, but also helped them develop key skills such as teamwork, communication and problem-solving. From green cities to eco-transport systems and sustainable housing, the students’ final designs showcased their imagination, insight and enthusiasm for tackling global issues.

It was a hugely enjoyable and thought-provoking experience, and we’re proud of how our students represented the school and embraced the challenge.
