A MGGS Development Trust Christmas Update

It has been a very busy term in the MGGS Development Trust Office.

  • The Story of a School throughout Covid-19
  • The Maidstone Edition of Monopoly
  • Volunteering
  • Community Website
  • Fundraising & Donations

We are very proud to have launched our new book, the ‘MGGS Scrapbook – The story of a school throughout Covid-19’  which is effectively a creative and visual time capsule created by staff and students during the pandemic. I am sure that it will be reflected upon for many a generation to come.

The Maidstone Edition Monopoly set and Once MGGS, Always MGGS hoodies have been selling well and have provided great volunteering opportunities for our students.

A number of alumni and student volunteers have been supporting the Development Office and I am extremely grateful for their help. A special thank you to 2020 Alumni Heather White and Bethany Sinclair who ran the Christmas Quiz for us and did a fabulous job.

Community Website

We are planning to launch our new community web platform early in the New Year which will provide valuable networking opportunities for you as well as being a space to share news and events.

Our Christmas raffle created a profit of approximately £700 and The Year 7 Readathon raised an amazing £2,869! We are very proud of all the students who took part and a huge thank you to everyone who supported the raffle and/or the readathon.  Congratulations to our raffle winners!

Finally, some very exciting news; thank you to the William and Edith Oldham Trust who have offered us a grant of £17,500 towards the MGGS GRIT Project and another £2,500 to support our careers department! We are making good progress against our goal of £300,000.  If you are interested in supporting MGGS please visit https://mggs.ptly.uk/ for full information.

You can also support the school by signing up to Easyfundraising and Amazon Smile, who both donate funds to the school each time you make a purchase, without costing you a single penny extra!

I will be in touch in the New Year to give you further information about the website and our plans for 2022. In the meantime, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year.

Mrs Lila Brewer, Alumni Relations & Development Trust Officer
