Headteacher’s End of Term Message

Good news for the end of 2021!

We have been pleased this autumn to have started to work with KCC and Baxalls, who have been appointed as the contractors to build our new three storey extension. This extension will replace T block, provide new facilities for the Music department as well as  provide a visitor centre for both primary schools and members of the public to visit our Second World War Tunnels.

We anticipate that the ground floor will be for the History Department and the Visitor Centre. The First Floor will have 5 Science Laboratories and a Science prep room. The second floor will house the Music department. This will enable us to reconfigure several internal spaces. This will start with the Design Technology department, and then a number of other projects, in particular significantly extending the dining area available to students in the canteen.  We are at the early stages of this project and we hope we will be able to give you regular updates over the coming months and years.

Goodbye and Welcome

At the end of this term we are sadly saying goodbye to two colleagues.

Mrs Harris, Deputy Headteacher will be leaving MGGS after 12 years here. I want to publicly thank her for commitment to this school and the many many hours she has given to supporting students in the school. Her passion for education and for teaching is well known and she has gained a well deserved and prestigious promotion to become one of Her Majesty’s School Inspectors. From January Mrs Harris will be leading teams of OFSTED inspections across the South East of England. We are sorry she is leaving, but pleased that someone who understands education and young people will be taking on this role.

Also leaving at the end of this term is Mrs Chell, SEND and Medical Needs Co-ordinator.  Mrs Chell will be starting training as a social worker from January.  Knowing the care and attention she has given to students means we know what a fantastic social worker she will be.

Our best wishes go to Mrs Harris and Mrs Chell for the future.

In January, we welcome to MGGS, Mrs Hart as Deputy Headteacher.  Mrs Hart is currently Assistant Headteacher at Chislehurst School for Girls.   Mrs Phillips will be joining us as SEND and Medical Needs Coordinator.  We will also be welcoming Mrs Cox, who will be our Safeguarding Administration Manager.  We trust that each of them will be very happy at MGGS.

Return to school January 2022

Please refer to ParentMail notifications regarding dates and timings of LFT for students.  I look forward to welcoming students back to MGGS in January.

Can I conclude by wishing each family a peaceful, healthy and Happy Christmas.

Non sibi sed omnibus!

Miss Deborah Stanley, Headteacher
