MGGS Student Raises Local Transport Concerns with MP
One of our students, Abigail, recently wrote to Kevin McKenna, MP for Sittingbourne & Sheppey, to share her experiences with the local bus service between Sittingbourne and Maidstone, operated by Stagecoach. In response, Mr McKenna sent a thank-you letter, commending Abigail for bringing attention to this important issue.
He wrote:
“You rightly highlight the significant impact that public transport can have on young people’s academic outcome, their ability to spend time with family, and the opportunity to get sufficient rest ahead of the next day.”
Mr McKenna has since spoken on this topic in Parliament during discussions on the Government’s Bus Service (No. 2) Bill, highlighting the broader implications of reliable transport for students and families. He has also committed to contacting local bus companies and has promised to follow up with further updates once he receives a response.
A big thank you to Abigail for her initiative in raising this concern and helping to bring about positive change in our community.
