Year 6 Transition Meetings – A Special Step Towards Joining the MGGS Family

On Wednesday, we were delighted to welcome our incoming Year 7 students and their families to MGGS for their individual transition meetings. The school had a wonderful buzz throughout the event, with smiling faces, excited chatter, and a real sense of anticipation for September.

Each student, along with their parents or carers, met one-to-one with a member of our Leadership Team or senior staff. These conversations are such an important part of the journey – giving every student a chance to be seen, heard, and supported as they prepare to join us at their new school. It’s the first step in building the strong relationships that are such a big part of life at MGGS.

There was also the chance to visit our ever-popular Pre-Loved Uniform shop, speak to staff about any financial matters, and enjoy some well-earned refreshments, kindly served by our brilliant Sixth Formers. It was lovely to see our older students sharing their own experiences and making our new families feel right at home.

The atmosphere was full of excitement, with many of our future Year 7s already picturing themselves finding their way around, making new friends, and becoming part of the MGGS story. It’s always a joy to see how quickly that sense of belonging starts to take root.

This event is just one part of our transition programme, designed to help students settle in and feel confident about starting secondary school. We’re still looking forward to a team-building sports event (with parents getting involved too!), a parent/carer information evening, transition day, and our welcome evening in September – complete with tours led by our newest students.

MGGS is more than just a place to learn –  it’s a community where students are supported, challenged, and encouraged to grow into the very best version of themselves. We’re incredibly excited to welcome our new Year 7s in September and see all they’ll bring to our school.
