Art & DT Exhibition

We are very pleased to have celebrated the work of our Art and Design Technology students at the Art Exhibition on Monday, especially those who have just completed their GCSE or A-Level work.  This year saw some amazing work being displayed and Gile Whitehead, a local artist, came to judge the winners of the art prizes.  He said “Thank you for inviting me in to judge the art competition.  I really enjoyed looking at all the impressive artworks.  It was hard to choose just one from each category, as there were many potential worthy winners.”

Prize winners for outstanding achievement in Art are as follows:

GCSE Art, Craft and Design – Maja F

A-Level Art, Craft and Design – Imogen E

A-Level Graphic Communication – Charlie K

Prize winners for outstanding achievement in Design Technology are as follows:

GCSE Product Design – Lily-Mai R

A Level Product Design – Olivia D

GCSE Textiles – Chloe H

A Level Textiles – Bella K

To help showcase even more of the skills we cover in Design Technology, this year we had some of our fabulous Year 10 Food & Nutrition students produce over 300 canapes for the private viewing of the exhibition. Students made rosemary and lemon shortcake biscuits; sun-dried tomato and olive pinwheels; honey-glazed asparagus and goat’s cheese parcels; caramelised onion and goat’s cheese tarts; and focaccia rolls with fresh herbs, onion and tomato patterned designs. Students worked conscientiously to master their formal presentation skills focusing on both quality and uniformity; skills that are assessed as part of their GCSE course. As a new addition to the exhibition, we would like to say a big thank you to all the students who took part and for all the complimentary feedback we had from parents and visitors to the exhibition.

Please Note: Due to examination regulations, we are unable to share images of the Art and Design Technology creations featured in the exhibition. These pieces form part of students’ GCSE and A-Level coursework and cannot be publicly released until the examination period concludes. We appreciate your understanding, and as soon as we are able, we look forward to sharing the fantastic pictures with you!
