Art & DT Exhibition 2026 My MGGS

On Monday, 6th July, we welcomed many of our school community to the private view of the Summer #Art and #DT Exhibition. Despite the extraordinarily hot weather, it was very well attended, with students and their families enjoying a light refreshment as they wandered around the spectacular display of GCSE and A-Level work across Art, #Craft and #Design, #GraphicDesign, #ProductDesign and #Textiles. They also got involved with our community art piece of a Magnolia Blossom Tree using finger painting and had the opportunity for photographs with our mobile photo booth.

We would like to thank the parents and carers of our young people for their ongoing support and wish our students the very best of luck with their results this summer. It has been an absolute pleasure seeing you through your studies in the Art and DT departments over the last year!

Winners:
GCSE Art : Primrose F
GCSE Product Design : Lara R
GCSE Textiles : Sasha L
A-Level Art : Bronwyn G
A-Level Graphics : Erin W
A-Level Product Design : Charlotte M

Congratulations to all our students! Photo’s cannot be shared of the amazing student work until mid September as these are “live” works awaiting results!

We are absolutely thrilled to share some wonderful feedback about two of our fantastic sixth form students, Nerissa G and Annabelle M!

The organisers of the recent Creative Arts in Diversity Festival reached out to let us know that our students were absolute superstars while volunteering. They blew everyone away with their professionalism, enthusiasm, and exceptional customer service.

The festival team shared:
"They represented your school very well... They approached every task with enthusiasm, kindness, and a positive attitude. We would love to work with your students again!"

They’ve even been invited back to help out at an upcoming winter fashion show!

A huge well done to Nerissa and Annabelle for demonstrating our core values so brilliantly out in the community. You have made the whole #MGGS community incredibly proud! 💙

🛼 DOUBLE Gold on Wheels! 🥇🥇 My MGGS

Massive congratulations to one of our incredibly talented MGGS Sixth Formers, Emilia L, in #Year12, for an outstanding performance in roller skating at the EAST Open Competition!

She completely dominated the rink, skating away with 1st place in the Open Standard Solo Dance and another 1st place in the Bronze Level Duos with her teammate! 🏆✨

We are so proud of her dedication and can't wait to cheer her on at the British Championships later this year! 🇬🇧

"Last weekend I competed at the EAST open competition at Haywards Heath, achieving an amazing 1st place in open standard solo dance, as well as another 1st place in bronze level duos with my teammate. I started skating when I was 10 years old at Kent Artistic Roller Dance Club, but I have since moved to Medway Roller Dance Club around 3 years ago and am so grateful for all the support and training I have received over the years! I am competing in the promotional dance British championships later this year, and am excited to see further progress and results!"

June is PRIDE Month! My MGGS

Every year, the Diversity Ambassadors at MGGS plan a range of activities to celebrate this month and raise awareness about LGBTQ+ matters.

We started off with a tutor time activity that involved matching up a series of flags, on Thursday, 22nd June, we organised the big MGGS picnic on the field. This was a perfect opportunity to run another student forum. The question asked was ‘How do we discuss LGBTQ+ issues in school? ’

Two representatives from Just Like Us joined our conversation and helped our students articulate their questions and feelings.
The students came up with various suggestions and comments:
being supportive
being appreciative of everyone’s individual identity
being yourself
organising more events like the picnic
looking at scenarios discussing ‘labels’ and their impact

Thanks to our partnership with Just Like Us - the Year 9 & 10 students attended an extended assembly on 29th June led by Ella - one of the charity’s ambassadors - who shared her personal story & journey. It was humbling and inspiring to listen to a young woman explaining how she navigated her teenage years and young adulthood, finding her identity and having the courage to be who she is.
This month is a perfect opportunity to acknowledge the ongoing support from Mrs Jenkins - Head of Art - who has created a safe space over the years for students to come and discuss LGBTQ+ matters through the KS3 PRIDE Club and Kaleidoscope, dedicated to students from Year 10 and above.

Diversity House Assembly - 30th June 2026 #MGGS

Whole school assembly with Dr Christine Locke - Founder and CEO of #DiversityHouse - www.diversityhouse.org.uk/

We welcomed Dr Locke last week to present an assembly to the #Year 7 and #Year8 students about the fantastic work they do in the Swale community to raise aspirations and support girls and women to fulfil their potential.
Dr Locke told us about some of the young women that the charity has helped over the years and the positive impact on their lives and prospects.

It was an inspiring assembly that reminded us of the importance of having positive female role models around us and the opportunities that Education offers. This academic year we fundraised almost £500 for Diversity House and this assembly is, I hope, the start of a collaboration with a local charity whose ethos matches the values of our school community.

Thomas C in 12B has created an online blog with articles on basketball that has over 10,000 readers!!
