Volleyball Success in National Championships
The MGGS U18 Volleyball Team competed in the second round of the National Championships last weekend in Worthing. The team had a tight first set in their opening match against eventual pool winners Spelthorne Sharks but were unable to build enough momentum to recover and lost 0-2. The team found their rhythm in the next game, defeating Richmond 2-0 and achieved the same score in their final game of the day against hosts Worthing Lions.
The second place finish in their pool means they climb the national ranking to 49th place and 4th in Kent. What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that our team was competing with club teams and were the only school team at the event. With only one player in Year 13 on the roster and three players who are only in Year 10, the future of volleyball at MGGS is looking very promising indeed.
