Speech Day 2025 is just around the corner for last year’s Year 13s

We are delighted to announce that our guest speaker for Speech Day on Monday, 15th December, is former student and now soprano Katie Bird – who is actually going to perform live at MGGS!

Katie Bird, one of our alumni from the class of 2001, and will be our guest speaker for this event.  Katie carried the education she received here and transformed it into a global career in the arts. She studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and the Royal Academy of Music, leading to stunning roles with Opera North and the English National Opera. She has also performed in the Netflix series, The Crown!

Katie has spoken of being profoundly inspired by her teachers here, particularly her Music teachers, Alan Hitchcock and Bob Chapman together with her Drama teacher, Mrs Chrissy Combes. We are hugely grateful to Katie for taking time out of her demanding schedule to be here, to present your certificates and prizes, and to share her story with us.
