Year 10 & 11 GCSE Drama Trip to Blood Brothers
On Thursday, 15th January 2026, GCSE Drama students visited the Churchill Theatre, Bromley, to watch a powerful performance of Blood Brothers. The trip offered an exciting opportunity to see a well-loved text brought to life by a highly skilled professional cast.
The actors were superb, particularly in the way they convincingly portrayed the characters at different ages throughout the play. Clear changes in physicality, voice and movement helped the audience follow the characters’ journeys from childhood to adulthood, making the emotional impact even stronger – definitely something that year can use in their devised exam pieces!
The set design was simple but highly effective, using minimal pieces to suggest multiple locations and time periods. Costume played a key role in showing changes in age, social class and time, with clear contrasts between characters that reinforced the play’s themes of inequality. Lighting and sound were used thoughtfully to create mood and highlight key moments, particularly during emotional or tense scenes.
Overall, the theatre trip was an engaging and valuable experience that deepened students’ understanding of live theatre and inspire their own creativity.
