Trip to Málaga for Years 9 & Students
Miss Flemons and I returned on a late, cold night last Saturday from a very warm and sunny Andalucía after spending 4 days of cultural and linguistic immersion in one of its most picturesque and iconic cities. We were lucky enough that the trip coincided with the carnival – we enjoyed watching performances and the festive atmosphere. Our trip was filled with sightseeing visits to the Alcazaba, the Colomares Castle, the Cathedral and Roman Theatre, the harbour of Benalmadena, as well as a flamenco lesson and a taste of the famous ‘tejeringos de Málaga’ – churros y chocolate caliente. We learnt some interesting facts about the Arabic/Moorish heritage alongside the Christian heritage and practised valuable language throughout the trip.
We had some special moments, including Cara playing the piano and singing a song by Amy Winehouse in the restaurant, Ruby helping to demonstrate the Flamenco lesson as well as Eloise and Evie taking selfies with the newly elected God and Goddess of the Carnival!
Altogether, the students were a pleasure to be with, and we all had a very enjoyable time. Mrs Lawrence – Trip Leader
