Senior Science Technician
We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and innovative colleague to lead and manage our team of committed Science Technicians and support our teaching staff within the Science Department. The post holder will also be responsible for overseeing practical work for either Biology or Physics. The post would be equally suitable for an experienced Science Technician or for a graduate Scientist.
The Science Technician team consists of four colleagues. The core purpose of this position is to co-ordinate the use and maintenance of practical resources and facilities within the Science department and provide assistance and advice in the practical needs of the Science curriculum. Give advice to teachers, students and other technicians and support staff.
Science is a highly popular subject within the school, with strong uptake and outcomes at A-level and many students progressing to scientific degrees and careers. The department is firmly focused on effective teaching and learning, underpinned by research-informed pedagogy, including clear explanations, strong modelling and regular, purposeful retrieval practice.
Practical work is central to the curriculum, and every Science lesson is taught in fully equipped laboratories. This includes 5 brand new laboratories opened in January 2026. The department is supported by specialist technicians for Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Key Stage 3, ensuring practical work is both ambitious and well supported.
The postholder is required to work for 39 weeks and 2 days per year and will receive a payment in respect of their pro rata entitlement to Annual Leave appropriate to their grade, Bank Holidays and the KCC concessionary day which is included in the salary above.

Hours: Full-time 37 hours per week term time plus 1 week and 2 days directed time. 8am-4pm Monday-Thursday and Friday 8am-3.30pm.
Salary: Kent Salaries KSE £24,526 per annum
