MGGS Wartime Tunnels; Year 5 Primary School Visits – Bookings Are Open!
We are delighted to announce that bookings are now open for Year 5 Primary School visits to the MGGS Wartime Tunnels. My MGGS
Originally constructed during the Second World War as air-raid shelters, the tunnels are a unique and historically significant part of the Maidstone Grammar School for Girls site. Following an extensive redevelopment project, we are excited to relaunch this immersive educational experience and welcome primary schools as the first stage of our outreach programme.
The visit is designed especially for Year 5 pupils studying WWII, offering a memorable opportunity to bring classroom learning to life. During the visit, pupils will take part in an interactive lesson in our Visitor Centre, enjoy themed activities and games, explore the tunnels themselves, and experience a lesson delivered inside this remarkable historic space.
Visits will run during Terms 5 and 6, from 10.00am to 2.00pm and can accommodate groups of up to 30 pupils.
With limited spaces available, we encourage schools to book early. To enquire or secure a visit, please contact us at dto@mggs.org.
We look forward to welcoming local primary schools to experience this fascinating part of our history.
