Google Leading Light School
Google for Education partner, Vitalize Consultancy have awarded Maidstone Grammar School for Girls with Leading Light status. This award recognises the successful implementation and adoption of Google for Education tools and technology across all aspects of the school. For the past 4 years, MGGS has been on an exciting journey to embed Google’s free tools for Education into the school. This has led to the technology becoming an essential part of the school culture and day to day academic life. Headteacher Miss Stanley commented “As a school, we have fully embraced Google technologies for teaching and administration to the benefit of our students, and we are incredibly proud and honoured to have been given this prestigious status.’’
In order to achieve Leading Light status, MGGS took part in an assessment day, where Google for Education Certified Trainer, Kirri Gooch, spent the day at the school talking to students and staff about how they use G Suite for Education. ‘’It was great to see such an enthusiasm and passion for technology in the school. All staff and students were clearly excited about the way that the Google for Education tools had positively impacted their time at the school.’’
Part of the assessment day also included demonstrations of the tools being used in lessons. ‘’The whole school has clearly embraced all of the G Suite tools from setting and handing in homework on Google Classroom, researching and writing up projects on Google Docs and sharing and collaborating on resources using Google Drive. MGGS is one of the best examples I have seen of a school embedding G Suite for Education and I am looking forward to carrying on their journey with them.’’
Maidstone Grammar School for Girls has fully embraced using G Suite for Education across the whole organisation. SLT, Teachers, Support Staff and Students, comprehensively use the tools to support them in their day to day life at the school. MGGS became a Google Leading Light school after passing a rigorous assessment day. Our Google for Education Partner, Vitalize, saw numerous examples of good practice and it was apparent that G Suite is the ‘go to’ tool for staff and students. Students are exceptionally enthusiastic about the use of GfE and attributed their independent learning skills, to the improved communication and feedback they had gained, through the school adopting the GfE tools.
