A Clean Sweep for MGGS Football Teams: Year 7 and Year 9 Crowned District Champions!
The Maidstone Schools District 7-a-side Finals took place at Gallagher Stadium, home of Maidstone United, where the school achieved an excellent milestone by qualifying teams in all three age categories (Year 7, 8 and 9).
Our Year 7 team produced an outstanding performance throughout the afternoon. They secured a 3–1 semi-final victory over Invicta before dominating the final against Cornwallis, winning convincingly 5–1 to be crowned district champions.
MGGS’ Year 8 team faced a challenging semi-final against SST and were unable to progress, losing 2–0. Despite the result, their qualification for the finals reflects a strong campaign overall, finishing 4th in the district.
Our Year 9 team delivered a highly impressive performance, beginning with a dominant 5–0 semi-final win over Aylesford. In the final, they faced SST in a competitive and physical contest, showing resilience and quality to secure a 2–0 victory and become district champions.
It was a highly successful afternoon, with both Year 7 and Year 9 crowned district champions. In addition, Frankie C (Year 7) and Olivia B (Year 9) were recognised for their outstanding performances, each being nominated as Player of the Tournament for their respective age groups.
Well done to all the players involved!
