Aylesford Bulls Host Girls Rugby Event, including MGGS Students!

Have you ever wondered what a Rugby World Cup winner’s medal looks like?

Former MGGS pupil, Rosie Galligan, appeared at the recent Girls Rugby Event hosted by Aylesford Bulls. She spoke about her rugby journey from joining Aylesford Bulls as a teenager to becoming a world champion in front of nearly 82,000 people

last year. The event hosted girls between the ages of 5-18 and gave them the opportunity to meet Rosie and to learn some rugby skills.

Aylesford Bulls is the only rugby club in the Maidstone area that gives teenage girls the opportunity to play 15-a-side rugby. The club’s ethos is to get as many girls as possible to take part in rugby, and is open to all regardless of previous experience or

ability. Rugby is a great way to learn important life skills such as teamwork, resilience and determination while also allowing girls to make new friends and have fun, both on and off the pitch.

The club is always looking for new players, and if you would like to give rugby a go, please come along to one of the training sessions held at the club on Wednesday evenings, or contact Andrea on 07921 211651 for more details.

Eleven years ago, Rosie was studying for the A levels at MGGS and playing rugby for Aylesford Bulls at the weekend. Could this be the first step in your journey to pick up your own?
