DofE Gold Award Presentation at Buckingham Palace
On Monday, 12th May a group of MGGS Alumni were invited to Buckingham Palace to celebrate their Gold Duke Of Edinburgh’s Award. Miss Brown was also invited to attend the event.
There were nearly 2,000 people attending the Garden Party in Buckingham Palace, many of whom were receiving their award. It was a beautiful day to be in the Palace gardens, which we were able to explore. We were able to go to see some speakers such as JB Gill, Alisatir Petrie, Roman Kemp and Harry Clark who were all talking about the next steps and benefits of completing the award. HRH The Duke of Edinburgh spoke at the event, giving examples from his own experiences of completing the award. Baroness Grey-Thompson also spoke and shared her challenges and experiences as an Olympic athlete. As the manager of the DofE Award at MGGS it was a privilege to be invited to the event and celebrate the incredible achievements of our students. As the Duke of Edinburgh stated it is a very small number of people that have achieved their Gold Award and is something to celebrate. Congratulations to everyone who celebrated their award this week. Miss Brown
