Eve H’s Winning Flag for Antarctica Day Soars to the South Pole!

Last term students in Year 7 at MGGS were given a unique opportunity to create a flag symbolising Antarctica as a part of their commemoration of Antarctica Day, celebrated every year on 1st December to honour the signing of the Antarctic Treaty. The students were encouraged to ponder the elements that best encapsulate Antarctica and translate their ideas into flag designs. Impressively, this year witnessed exceptional entries. However, it was Eve H from 7N who clinched the winning spot with her outstanding design.

Eve’s winning flag design is now on its way to the hands of Polar research scientists currently stationed in Antarctica. There, it will be hoisted and photographed to mark this momentous occasion, commemorating the Antarctic Treaty and furthering the appreciation of this remarkable and vital region.

Congratulations to all the students on some fabulous designs!
