House Arts 2025 is coming… Are you ready?
For the last three years, Britons House has shone the brightest and won the ‘Jewel in the Crown’ as MGGS House Arts overall winner (pictured). Are Britons going for an unprecedented four in a row, or will another house be this year’s winners?
The theme this year is ‘Dreams’ and the format is Dance. The theme was set in July by Miss Mulvihill and House Leaders were first tasked with choreographing a dance (10 minutes long). The theme is open, so the House Leaders can use their creativity!
They have all just finished auditions and now they are starting to work with their different dancers to stage it. As well as directing, House Leaders will also be working with the AV Team to arrange sound and lighting, they also need to design and create their own sets, find props and costumes. The competition will take place on Friday, 17th October and we just can’t wait… soon MGGS will be buzzing with anticipation for the great day!
House Arts Day is all about showcasing the fantastic performances that House Leaders have put together, coming together as a school community. We are all looking forward to seeing the performances and finding out who is going to take the ‘Jewel in the Crown’ this year.
Good luck to every School House!
MGGS has a very well-established House system going back many decades. Every student is a member of either Britons, Danes, Normans, Romans, Saxons or Vikings. During the course of the year, there are a wide range of House competitions, including our Sports Day. House Arts is the ‘jewel in the crown’ of House events and is an annual competition rotating between Music, Drama and Dance. In the space of one term, Sixth Form House Leaders work tirelessly with members of their Houses to produce performances of outstanding quality.
Do you remember House Arts day in times gone past? If so, do get in touch or comment on our social media pages – we’d love to hear your recollections and any pictures you have. Just email them to mstarns@mggs.org!
