Isobel is Going for Gold… Can you Help?
Hello, my name is Isobel K and I am in 8S at Maidstone Grammar School for Girls. On May 13th 2022, I was diagnosed with ALL – Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, a type of blood cancer. That summer, I went to various London hospitals and had many operations.
However, in the midst of it all, Young Lives vs Cancer was there. Within days of my diagnosis, members of the team came and had meetings with my parents, talked and played with me and helped us through what was a very dark time. Even months after, they would still call for weekly check-ups. Not to tell us about medical needs, in fact, anything but. Any worries, any questions, we could talk to a member of staff 24/7. That is why I only feel it is right to give back.
For every day of September, I will be wearing something gold! This is to raise awareness of childhood cancer. The gold cancer ribbon represents childhood cancer and September is childhood cancer awareness month. All I ask of you is that you sponsor me through my Just Giving page to help raise money to support help for all the young girls and boys. This support will help get families through some of the toughest times. I was fortunate enough to ring the bell in October 2024 to signal the end of my treatment. But I wouldn’t have made it through the beginning if it wasn’t for them. Will you help me raise awareness?
Go and spread the word! Thank you.
