Merry Christmas from the Mary Smith Library
It has been a busy term in the Mary Smith library.
We have hosted the Scholastic book fair, with every class invited to shop for Christmas presents or treat themselves. We sold over £1200 worth of books, earning the library £678.96 in commission to spend on new and replacement books. All we have to do now is log them onto the library records and cover them ready for everyone to borrow.
Congratulations to Anke in 8A, who won the “name the cow” competition running in the library. The winning name was drawn by Fleur in 7F in front of an expectant crowd. With much anticipation, the winning name was pronounced as Andrew, the patron saint of Scotland, a fitting name.
The Book Craft have been recycling old and damaged books into new things, thinking about the various celebrations this term. We started the term making 3D pumpkins (Halloween), which we decorated with poppies for Armistice Day. Then we started to get ready for Christmas, making cards to sell, wreaths for our doors and Christmas trees.
Thank you for supporting these events in the library. It really makes a difference to all our students.
