MGGS’ very own Golfing Champ!

Well, the golfing season has well and truly started now so here is the first update on Ellena’s progress.

Ellena’s parents reported that, “Ellena has had a busy 3 weeks at the start of the golfing season, travelling around England, Scotland and Wales.  After coming out of lockdown she had a bit of a slow start finding her form. She had mid-field finishes in both The Critchley and Astor Salvers. In the Under 21 (mixed) Championships in Wales she was disappointed to not make the cut to go into the playoffs. We then headed up to Scotland to the R&A Women’s Amateur Championships. One of the most prestigious Women’s Amateur events in the golfing calendar. It was an amazing experience for Ellena to play alongside some of the top British and European Women Amateurs.  Even more thrilling was that she achieved her goal of making the cut and getting through to the playoffs!

Once again finding her form we set off back down to Bath, near Bristol, where she competed in the Harper Salver. It was a tough day to play 2 rounds, in one day, in the extreme heat. Her hard work was rewarded with a solid ‘Top Ten’ finish and also a winning lowest gross back 9 round in the afternoon.

A bit of a rollercoaster 3 weeks but still resulting in her handicap going down again and we are obviously, as always, very proud of her.”

Congratulations Ellena from your MGGS community!
