Product Design Spotlight – Bright Sparks & Bold Designs

Year 7 are in the process of manufacturing a bespoke nightlight to fit the needs of their identified client. So far, students have worked on the electronic circuit to enable their nightlight to light up.  This is where they have learnt about various components, their properties and purposes and be able to apply this knowledge to real life problem solving scenarios to get their circuits working. Next, students are moving onto manufacturing the acrylic stand of the nightlight whereby they have engraved a bespoke design for their client using the laser cutter and are now developing skills in cutting and shaping an outline by hand. Here is how some of them are getting on from 7AC2 and 7FG3:

You can clearly see their design intentions being followed through from the modelling to the manufacturing.  This picture shows only step 1 and/or 2 out of all 5 steps required – their work is super impressive, even at this early stage, well done!
