‘Project Management’ Enrichment Students Explore the MGGS Wartime Tunnels
This week, a group of Sixth Form enrichment students became the first to go down into the Wartime Tunnels since the Helen Keen Building was completed, marking an exciting milestone as preparations continue for the opening of the MGGS Wartime Tunnels and Visitor Centre.
Stepping underground, students explored the tunnels, experiencing the space as future visitors will. The visit was a key part of their ongoing project to help shape how the tunnels will be presented to primary schools and the wider public in the near future.
As they walked through the tunnels, students considered how visitors might be welcomed, what stories should be told, and how the experience could be made engaging, informative and memorable. From visitor flow and interpretation to safety and atmosphere, the session brought their project work to life in a powerful and tangible way.
Being the first group to explore the tunnels since the Helen Keen Building was completed gave students a real sense of responsibility and excitement, as they helped take the final steps towards opening this unique historic space to others.
We look forward to sharing more updates as the MGGS Wartime Tunnels and Visitor Centre continues to take shape and prepares to welcome its first visitors very soon.
